W.O.M.E.N. - Women Of Multicultural Ethnicity Network - was founded 24 October 2003. Our mission is to unite, to express and address the interests and issues of women of foreign origin in order to bring about equality for them as women and as foreigners in all areas of society.

The Board of W.O.M.E.N. is always elected at the Annual Meeting for one year at a time.

The Board for 2012/13 consists of the following women:

Ania Wozniczka, Chair

Ania was born in Poland and came to Iceland in 2006. She has MA in educational sciences with emphasis on intercultural studies and works as a project manager. She joined the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2010.

Claudia Ashtonie Wilson, Vice-Chair

Claudia is from Jamaica and has lived in Iceland since 2001. She is studying Law at the University of Reykjavik. She joined the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2011.

Angelique Kelley, treasurer
angel@womeniniceland.is

Angelique Kelley is from the United States and came to Iceland in 1987. She was a board member on Multicultural Council of Reykjavík for two years and administrator of 'Away from home-living in Iceland' on Facebook. She joined the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2011.

Nurashima Abdul Rashid

Nurashima Abdul Rashid is from Singapore, have been living in Iceland since 1996. She graduated from Háskoli Ísland with a degree in Early childhood in preschool/Leikskólakennarafræði and is currently working as a preschool teacher in Reykjavik. Nura is a breast cancer survivor and is willing to chat and help others that are going through cancer. Nura joined the board of W.O.M.E.N in November 2012.

Amelia Mateeva

Amelia is from Sofia, Bulgaria and she came to Iceland in 1991. Amelia has a Masters in Slavonic languages, literature and has a teaching degree from the University of Sofia ‚ Kliment Ohridski‘. Amelia has studied Icelandic for foreigners at the University of Iceland. Amelia is a preschool teacher and has had a seat on the board since November 2012.


Marija Boskovic
marija@womeniniceland.is

Marija is from Serbia and came to Iceland in 2001. She has BA in
Icelandic as a second language and MS in civil engineering. She
joined the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2012.
