Welcome to the homepage of

Women Of Multicultural Ethnicity Network - W.O.M.E.N. in Iceland

Our association was founded on 24. October 2003. The goal of W.O.M.E.N. is to unite, to express and address the interests and issues of women of foreign origin living in Iceland in order to bring about equality for them as women and as foreigners in all areas of the society.

This homepage contains information about us, issues we are working on and various projects we are engaged in. We will also publish news and announcements about events related to immigrants, women and family issues.

The association is represented by the board, elected every year at the annual meeting.

W.O.M.E.N. in Iceland is open to all women of foreign origin who live in Iceland.

If you would like to join the association or send an enquiry, please send an e-mail to womeniniceland@womeniniceland.is.

World Food Café

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, W.O.M.E.N feels it is important to shine a light on this subject.

As a survivor of breast cancer and the woman in charge of the World Food Cafe, our board member Nura would like to invite everyone to our ‚All Pink World Food Cafe‘, This will be a ‚pot luck‘ event and everyone is asked to bring a dish to share and wear something pink.
This will be an extra special evening as we would be having a representative from Kraftur (Cancer support group) and hopefully from the Icelandic Cancer Society to give us a small introduction to their work.

We will also have a film crew visiting us from Singapore as well for this event as they are doing a story on Nura‘s life in Iceland. Please come to support Nura as well, she is a survivor we are so very fortunate to have her with us.

This event is FREE

W.O.M.E.N will provide coffee, tea, water. You are welcome to bring your own soft drinks or alcoholic drinks.

As always all women are welcome, but we do ask that you leave your children at home. We do understand though if you are breast feeding and have to bring the infant. Please bring your girlfriends!

When: Wednesday, 15th October
Time: 19:00-22:00
Address: Túngata 14 (Hallveigarstaðir) 101 Reykjavík (door to the left, leads to basement)
